5G is a hot topic that has been thrown around a lot in the technology world. The concept sounds enticing, but there are a lot of unanswered questions after its release. With new trends starting to become more popular throughout the year, it’s important to know the details of each one so you can take advantage of them. Catch up on everything there is to know about 5G with Nutmeg Technologies.
5G is the fifth generation of cellular network technology which makes it the newest version of cellular network available. What makes 5G so enticing is the large amount of improvements it has over 4G. From speed to latency to bandwidth, it surely has the capability to outshine its previous network type as well as assist a large variety of people and industries.
There are many different types of consumers who can take advantage of 5G. For one, the everyday user can have 5G for their own personal cellular device. All the improvements it has over 4G does make the average person a great candidate, but they aren’t the only ones who can reap these benefits. 5G can also assist businesses. Factory workers can utilize it to control robots, auto manufactures can use it for their self-driving cars and marketers can take advantage of the high speed connection to hold meetings with clients.
One of the most well-known benefits of 5G is the speed, but how exactly fast is it? 5G is actually 20 times faster than its previous network version, 4G. The impressive part of the network’s speed is that it also is able to hold a substantial amount of data compared to 4G. Therefore, 5G goes beyond what the typical network offering is able to provide in both speed and capacity.
In addition to speed, another reason 5G is so appealing is because of its low latency. Latency measures how long it takes for a signal to go from its source to its receiver and back, and the longer it takes, the more delays will occur. According to Intel, 5G latency will be faster than human visual processing, making it possible to control devices remotely in near-real time. Latency for 5G could be as low as 1 ms, compared with 50 ms for 4G.
The last benefit we will be exploring is bandwidth. As we mentioned, 5G is able to hold a much greater capacity of data than 4G. Because of this, larger buildings and even venues like stadiums have the ability to run smoothly with heavy amounts of data and not have it interfere with the speed or latency. This can be crucial for companies who have a large amount of staff working remotely, as it can help ensure your server keeps up with all of them. A managed service provider can help steer you in the right direction to see if 5G should be the network for your business.

A Tuesday afternoon outage rarely begins with a dramatic failure. A wireless access point stops responding, a firewall reaches a capacity limit, or a cloud connection starts dropping packets. Within minutes, phone calls become unreliable, employees lose access to shared applications, and customers receive delayed responses. Without visibility, the IT
